Asked if Kerli get on her nerves when people compare her to Lady Gaga, our dear singer answered:

“It used to bother the fuck out of me because so many of these things people compare us for, I have been doing for a long time.
Now I’ve been using a lot of harp in my performances and I’m learning harp as well for this new album. So I’m endorced by this harp company www.electricharp.com and of course, they just told us that Lady Gagas people are now reaching out to them. It just doesn’t seem to stop.
Whatever.
I think she’s dope and I need to not care what she does but get some hits on the radio myself.
I was just thinking the other day that if the aliens came to the earth and I had to show them one entertainer, I’d probably show them Lady Gaga. I think she’s brilliant and I’ve told her so as well. I hope whenever I talk about her, it doesn’t come off as complaining or hating or being jelaous, because it’s really not the case. I’m just speaking my mind.
So, I’m a fan but really hope I get to establish myself enough that the comparisons will stop and we both will be seen as just creative artists. More creativity in pop wouldn’t hurt, right?”

At January 3td, Perez Hilton, known for gossiping about celebrities and being involved with scandals, posted the following tweet: “You’re not the first to go yellow, sweetie! http://bit.ly/5JxFf “.
For who doesn’t know, Hilton is one of friend of Pop singer Lady Gaga and, seemingly, he was just joking (or not) about Kerli’s disapointment with Gaga and her fans.

Para quem não sabe, Hilton é um dos amigos da cantora Pop Lady Gaga e, aparentemente, estava apenas brincando (ou não) sobre o desapontamento da Kerli com Gaga e seus fãs.

“Ehee… there was this media scandal about my sister stealing ideas from Lady Gaga… yeah right i just laughed about it. My sister is not actually one of the most but the most ingenious person I know She’s way too original and honest to steal someone else’s ideas. I KNOW it’s one of her priorities not to do anything like that. She has never intentionally done that and she told me about those style concepts which Lady Gaga is now following many years ago. All I have to say that my sister is a genius who doesn’t do any copying. So hopefully no more false accusations.”

“Ehee, houve um escândalo na mídia sobre minha irmã roubar as idéias da Lady Gaga… Certo Eu só ri disso. Minha irmã não é uma das, mas é a mais criativa das pessoas que eu conheço. Ela é muito original e honesta para roubar as idéias de alguém. EU SEI que uma das prioridades dela é não fazer algo desse tipo. Ela nunca fez isso intencionalmente e ela me contou sobre esses conceitos de estilo há anos atrás, e agora Gaga os está seguindo. Só tenho a dizer que minha irmã é genial e que não faz cópias. Então, espero que não ocorram mais acusações.

“So this morning I was reading the news and I saw that Lady GaGa also had yellow hair, and I’ve been doing so much to not look anything like her, and I feel like everything I do she’ll do two weeks later. I feel like I’m starting my next album cycle and I’m trying to look different so I wouldn’t get these comparisons, but it’s like every time I do something different and post the picture up on MySpace she’s also looking that way in two weeks time.

No disrespect because the thing she does visually and her styling… and she’s best friends with Alexander McQueen obviously I’m not competing with that, obviously I’m not competing with four number one hits. I’ve never really said anything in a pissed off kind of way because I didn’t wanna be that person who was like a nobody and was like screaming when somebody else was standing on top of the mountain and ruling the world, I’m nobody to talk, but this morning I was like…

I know she knows who I am and I’m good friends with some of the members of her team and it’s just a little much that I’m trying so hard to not look anything like her and she’ll just end up looking like me anyways so I just lost it for a second and called her a bitch and it was really immature of me and I know the world will take it in a completely wrong way because she’s on top and I’m not.

“Hoje de manhã eu estava lendo as notícias e vi que a Lady Gaga também estava de cabelo amarelo, e tenho feito de tudo pra não parecer com ela, e sinto como se tudo o que eu fizesse ela vai lá e faz igual duas semanas depois. Eu sinto que estou começando o ciclo do meu novo álbum e estou tentando parecer diferente para não receber essas comparações, mas é como se toda vez que eu faço algo diferente e coloco a foto no MySpace ela aparece do mesmo jeito em duas semanas.

Não querendo desrespeitar o que ela faz visualmente ou o seu estilo… e ela tem uma boa amizade com o Alexander McQueen, obviamente eu não quero competir com isso, obviamente não quero competir com 4 hits no topo. Eu nunca falei como se estivesse puta porque não quero ser aquela ‘zé-ninguém’ que faz escândalo quando outra pessoa está lá no topo da montanha dominando o mundo… não sou ninguém pra fazer isso, mas hoje de manhã eu estava assim…

Eu sei que ela sabe quem eu sou e tenho amizades com alguns dos membros da equipe dela e o mínimo que estou fazendo é tentar não parecer com ela e ela acaba parecendo comigo de qualquer forma, por isso eu pirei por um segundo e a chamei de vaca e foi muito imaturo da minha parte e sei que o mundo vai entender de um modo completamente errado porque ela está no topo e eu não.

Algumas vezes eu tentava pensar “é uma coincidência, é uma coincidência, é uma coincidência”, mas chegou uma hora que pensei “quer saber, não é mais coincidência” e obviamente ela consegue melhorar seus looks porque tem todo esse dinheiro investido nela… os fãs dela vêm falar comigo como se eu fosse a plagiadora, eu estou cansada e foi por isso que eu disse aquilo. Ninguém sabe quem eu sou e ela é tão famosa, e vou parecer uma idiota que imagina essas coisas, mas eu e todo mundo que acompanha minha carreira desde o começo sabe que estou certa.”

“it’s kinda fucking funny that Lady Gaga ALSO has yellow hair now. I wish she would fucking stop ripping off everything I do. Fucking bitch.”

Hours later she deleted the tweet and apologized: “I hope u are not disappointed when I get pissed off and act immature sometimes. I’m just a human. Took down all the anger. Sorry guys. Love u. xoxo”

Our Estonian singer showed UV Yellow between November and December, and now Lady Gaga is up to the same color!

Maybe Kerli told it because in other moments Lady Gaga showed up with a haircut alike kerli’s. Before Lady choose the blond straight hair with bangs, Kerli was already wearing it. In other moment Kerli put some purple stirs and Lady Gaga did the same, again.

There’s a lot of people doing comparing Kerli’s and Gaga’s style, but we know that this sameness isn’t just into their hairs. Their music and style are pretty different. Kerli’s like a victorian doll, painted with urbanism and subcultures, while Gaga it’s like a revived trash fashion.
According to some information, Lady Gaga’s designer did a copy of Kerli’s 2008 Scream Awards outfit and called to say thanks.

Horas depois ela apagou o tuíte e se desculpou: “Espero que vocês não fiquem desapontados quando eu ficar chateada e agir imaturamente às vezes. Sou apenas uma humana. Desestressei. Desculpa galera. Amo vocês. beijos e abraços”

A nossa cantora estoniana pintou o cabelo de amarelo UV entre novembro e dezembro. E agora Lady Gaga também pintou o cabelo da mesma cor.

Talvez Kerli tenha dito isso porque em outros momentos Lady Gaga aparecia com um cabelo parecido com o dela. Antes da Gaga aparecer com o cabelo loiro liso e franja, Kerli já usava esse visual. Em outro momento, Kerli pintou mechas roxas em seu cabelo; logo depois Gaga também apareceu com mechas desta cor.

Muita gente tem comparado as duas cantoras. Mas nós, fãs da Kerli, sabemos que essas semelhanças não passam apenas do antigo cabelo loiro alisado com franja de ambas. As músicas e as roupas em nada tem a ver. As roupas da Kerli gritam por subculturas, também seguindo um padrão urbano e às vezes lolita vitoriana, e as da Gaga gritam por moda trash revivida.
Mas segundo informações o estilista da Lady Gaga copiou o figurino da apresentação da Kerli no Scream Awards 2008 e ainda ligou pra ela agradecendo! Aí a história muda…
